The mid 1990’s proved to be a good time to be a Bristol City supporter as they were a force once again in football. The 1994 – 1995 season saw the club finish off in 11th position, however the 1995 – 1996 campaign saw the Potters finish off strongly in fourth position and were most unfortunate not to gain promotion in to the premiership via the play offs. The 1996 – 1997 season saw Bristol City suffer elimination in the FA cup against Stockport County and crash out of the league cup after suffering defeat against Arsenal FC. The 1996 – 1997 campaign saw the Potters slide down the league in to a disappointing 13th position finish.
The 1997 – 1998 campaign proved to be a debacle for Stoke as they were poor in the first division, suffering relegation as they finished it off in 23rd position. They crashed out of the domestic cup competitions in the third round as they suffered defeat against West Bromwich Albion and Leeds United in the tournament.
